Job Description

To pick up 6 year old daughter from school (an Irish speaking school) at 1:30pm and 8 year old son at 2:30pm daily - school is in walking distance so will walk home with kids. Bring them home, where they can relax, do some Irish homework and play or maybe to a prearranged activity (own car is helpful not essential). Light chores include tidying up and preparing an easy dinner. Patience, kindness, quick learner, love of children, responsible and safety conscious. Happy to help with anything attitude. Additional hours needed some days and during the school holidays.

Our Family Routine

Mum drops kids to school at 8:50am and then goes to work either in office or WFH - needs to be in the office 2 days per week. Ava (daughter) is picked up at 1:30pm might go to cafe or playground with minder until Rhys (son) needs to be picked up at 2:30pm. Home around 3 / 3:30pm have a snack - fruit, slice of toast and or yogurt and watch ipad to relax and switch off. 4/4:30pm - homework time 5pm - Dinner 5:30pm / 6pm finish and parents take over. Mum is often home and will help out when needed.

Our Home Environment

We have a small but well equipped house. We have a small garden and small playroom upstairs and kids can do crafts at the kitchen table as there is a cupboard with paints and crafty bits beside. Playroom is upstairs with bean bags and video games - Rhys our son likes to go up there to relax. Ava are daughter loves to draw and paint to relax. They both have sensory swings in their small bedrooms - Ava will go up and get into her swing to relax and regulate herself when needed. Mum works from the attic. Very warm loving home where kids are accomadated where needed whilst trying to instill manners and routine. Important to gently remind the kids and teach them to tidy up after themselves and put things in the dishwasher etc, wash hands when they come in. Ava are daughter does not like to be told what to do so how we phrase requests is important. Rhys isn't a great listener so gentle repetition is needed sometimes. Both are neurodiverse so incredibly bright and sensitive, they have no problems communicating but need help regulating themselves sometimes. The childminder does not need to parent the kids but to mind, guide, play with them and be someone they can talk to about anything.

Our Expectations

The childminder does not need to parent the kids but to mind, guide, play with them and be someone they can talk to about anything. We love childminders who are creative and love talking to and helping kids whilst also being conscious to tidy up as they go along, whilst the kids being happy and enjoying themselves is number 1 coming home to a bombsite can be a bit depressing. So tidying up as they go along would be very helpful. My daughter is prone to meltdowns so minder should be very patient and calm and prepared to approach this with kindness and understanding. She will apologise she just struggles with emotional regulation at times and blows off steam.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience with kids is essential. We currently have students all of whom always sought childcare jobs whether babysitting, working at kids camps whilst studying. They should naturally want to work with kids and enjoy them.

Our Budget

We currently pay €12-€15 per hour but would go a tiny bit higher for the right candidate. But ideally we would like someone for €15.

Additional Information

We have a wonderful dog - a dog loving childminder is always helpful as would be great for them to pick up Ruby and bring her to collect the kids from school everyday. She is a big teddy bear. We currently do not have a regular person for Monday's and Wednesdays our current childminders do week on week off. If a great candidate comes along who would like to try one of the these days from now we would be interested to speak to them.
