Dear Family
I'm a lady in my 60s with adult children and 4 grandchildren. I have spent the past decade working with elderly in both volunteer and paid positions. I have a QQI Level 5 in Caring for Elderly which I completed in 2019. I also care for my grandson who has complex medical needs, so I am all too familiar with how difficult it can be to find someone families can trust to care for their little ones with additional needs. I enjoy walking on the beach and playing golf. Full drivers license and own car for transport
My Experience
My paid experience has been with caring for elderly people. In my local community I cared for 2 gentlemen over the past few years who I supported until their passing. They were very much part of my family as I to was to theirs. When caring for elderly I’m comfortable helping with day-to-day tasks, keeping an eye on overall wellbeing, and creating a safe, respectful, and comforting space where people can feel as independent as possible. This includes personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, toileting), meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility & transfer assistance. I am also a reliable back up and emergency support, which gave huge peace of mind to the families.
My Family
I live on the same property as my daughter and son-in-law in Donabate. I moved here after my grandson was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition to help care for him so my daughter could work full time. He is non verbal and has mobility and feeding difficulties. He is a pure joy and I adore him as well as my other 3 grandchildren! My daughter has now finished up work enabling me to look at work opportunities.
