Hello, I'm Beatriz B.
I’m 33, from Brazil and have been living in Ireland for nearly 8 years. Spent 1 year as a Au Pair living with an Irish family minding a 10 month old girl, and that’s when I feel in love with childminding. I worked for almost 4 years as an childminder with children from 5 months to 10 years old. I had 2 longer experiences. The first was when I minded 6 kids ages between 1 and 7 years old. Their mothers were sisters and had 3 kids each. I minded the two babies from early morning, picked up the other 4 in school in the afternoon and entertained them afterwards. The other one is a little girl who’s about to turn 5 this year, who I’ve been minding since she was 5 months. I’ve started being her childminder for most days (she also had creche). Now I mind her 3 evenings per week. I’m very patient, I love arts & crafts, reading stories and getting creative any possible time.
My Family
I'm from Italian and Portuguese heritage, so we're foodies by birth. I'm very close to my family and we always find a way to be together. I have a younger sister and growing up my mom always brought us to the cinema, theatre, exhibitions and parks. The for of us always had breakfast together whenever we could but Sundays were sacred, it was our family time. Now whenever I visit, my mom, my sister and I always go somewhere new to explore, eat good food and spend some time together. My extended family is also very close, so we're always celebrating birthdays, special dates and sometimes just hanging out around a good food.
My Favourite Memory
I'm from Sao Paulo, largest city of Brazil and my mom came from the South of the country, Rio Grande do Sul, 1000 Km away. So for most of my childhood, we would go on a road trip to spend Christmas and New Years with my mom's family and these trips will be forever in my heart. We'd bring some food, listen to some of our favourite CDs and drive all day long. Those were some good times.
My Education
I studied Marketing and Advertisement in college. I did 6 years of English Studies in Brazil before coming to Ireland where I did 8 months of General English and then 8 months of IELTS preparation. I also studied a bit o French and Graphic Design in Brazil but never went through with those. I'm currently studying Italian.
My Interests
I love reading and writing in my free time or in the little break throughout the day. I also like drawing and painting which is why I love doing arts & crafts with the kids I mind. I love a good movie, so I go to the cinema very often and I also love to watch my favourite tv shows over and over.
My Motivation
I worked minding children for several years and then decided to do something else for a change as I'd never worked with anything else in Ireland. I worked as an admin assistant for 2.5 years and now I want to go back to childminding because I miss the kids, I miss their energy, their curiosity, what I can teach them and what I learn from them. I can say that now I feel that's my call so I've decided to go back and also beyond studying Childcare as well and working with it.
