Dear Family

My name is Rita, I'm from South Africa, but I have lived in Ireland for 16 years and have worked as a Minder for 14 of those. I spent 8 years with one Irish family, 3 years with another Irish family and another 3 years with a family with twins (18 month-old boys) and two girls who were 4 and 6. I have also worked with a family with triplets. I'm a lovely, mature, christian lady and love minding children.

My Favourite Memory

One of my favourite memories is when the children I was minding were going through a phase of when they loved the colour green. They would point out everything green on the street, like lorries and trees, and say "look Rita there's more green".

My Experience

I have worked as a Minder for 14 years in Ireland. I spent 8 years with one Irish family, 3 years with another Irish family and another 3 years with a family with twins (18 month-old boys) and two girls who were 4 and 6. I have also worked with a family with triplets. I have worked with children from newborns up to 10.

My Education

In terms of formal education, I studied Maths in college in South Africa. I also volunteered in an old-aged home.

My Family

My husband is in Nigeria. I am one of 12 children, there were 5 twins in our family so I am used to being around lots of children and big families.

My Motivation

I love with working children, teaching them and watching them grow up. I love instilling great values in children. It makes me proud to see children grow up and do things like lighting the fire or making tea for me, particularly if I've minded them since they were babies.

My Interests

I love to go to Church and do charity work in my free time. I love to get outdoors everyday and go for walks, feed the donkeys, go to parks and go to the library. I particularly enjoy doing this with the children I mind.
