Dear Family
I'm an experienced minder and also a mother of two lovely boys. I'm chatty, with a warm personality and am genuinely interested in the kiddos' world. I love to see them thriving, despite how challenging it can be at times, but always interesting seeing the way those little minds work! I've been in Ireland since 2008, mainly minding kids. In 2012 I embarked on an adventure to be an international flight attendant in the UAE and came back to the green land in 2017 to start my beautiful family. Since my first-born, I've become a stay-at-home mum (the most hard working, challenging job I've ever done in my life). I have life experience with newborns, infants and toddlers, as well experience with various families. I can talk for ages! If you would like to know some more about my experience with children or check my references, please just get in touch.
My Favourite Memory
Oh, thankfully I have many to tell. My favourite memories are from when the kids taught me English. The way they used to teach me was naive but so clever. I minded a lovely girl who taught me how to say 'Three' and 'tree' correctly, she said "put your tongue between your teeth for the number and no tongue for the other one." I've never forgot this tip to date and even my English teacher at the time never gave me such a clever guidance! This little girl loved being my teacher. She asked her mom to get a small blackboard to give me proper classes. In fairness, in her own way, she taught me many words! I absolutely loved minding her, it was so much fun. Years later, by coincidence, met her and her mom at a concert, and she was so grown-up! I thanked her for the classes and she said she remembered it, was very touching. Another boy I used to mind asked me if my 'fake tan' was permanent. We were washing our hands and he said "oh, look... your fake tan didn't wash off!" (how cute!). I asked his mom about the best way I could explain this to him, so through the footballer Neymar, I could explain to him my 'permanent fake tan'.
My Experience
In Ireland, I started minding kids in 2008, when I was a live-in au pair. I minded an 8 month-old baby as I couldn't speak English back then. From 2008-2010 I worked as a live-in au pair for three different families, with kids aged from 8 months to 11 years old. From the end of 2010-2012 I worked with two families, with a 9 month-old girl, a 4 year-old girl, an 8 month-old baby boy and a 4 year-old girl. I was doing occasional babysitting for families too. My own kids were born in 2019 and in 2023, and since then I have experience with newborns as well (and absolutely love them). Since I left my office job after the dreadful Covid, I'm back to working with kids. I occasionally work with several families, minding bigger kids now (at school ages). The youngest is a bright three year-old (he was two years old when we started). I forgot to mention that I did a lot of cleaning jobs during my student times, and I was good at it! I had so many clients that couldn't get any new ones. I just don't know how my own house isn't spotless - well, the two kids have a lot to do with it!
My Education
I left my degree unfinished in Brasil. When I came to learn English, I was doing public relations with an emphasis in business. In Ireland I got a diploma in Tourism management. I started a bachelor digital marketing course but I paused it when I found out I was pregnant. I had a tough first trimester and couldn't keep up with the studies and full-time work (and all the sickness, ugh). During my time working with Etihad airways, I did several courses including Food Handling, the VIP Conduct Code for First and Business Classes, the Safety and Security Code for aircrafts and airports, Premium Cabins Customer service and sales. I also had to do refresher First Aid courses every year.
My Family
Oh family, it is the most important thing to me. I come from a big family in Brazil. I only have two siblings but loads of cousins who we were raised with, so we are very close. My granny is 91 and my grandad is 97. I absolutely love them - they inspire me and also helped to raise me. My family is far from perfect but they are very funny. I have the best memories of our holidays, road trips, birthdays and Christmas - I love them. Now that I have my very own family, I feel complete. A loving, supportive partner who is the best dad my kids could ever have and two healthy kids who I absolutely adore - what more could I ask for? I feel like I've hit the jackpot.
My Motivation
My motivation is to be able to help other parents to achieve their expectations in regards to the care of their children. Also, with the increase of the cost of living, I need to cover some of our family costs and provide for my kids too.
My Interests
It may sound a bit weird but I like to do the housework. There is no such satisfaction like getting the dishes done, clothes folded and put in the wardrobe, floors cleaned. It not always work that way but it's just beautiful when it does. I'm very interested in languages and cultures.
