Dear Family

First impressions are fundamental, especially when they are very brief and have to be concise.I am an ordinary girl who loves children and cherishes the meaningful relationship that I build with them. I am studying English with Creative Writing at UCD, which feels like a dream come true. Ever since I arrived in Ireland in 2021 to work as an Au Pair and I discovered the enchanting beauty of this country, I knew this was where I belonged. I plan to one day become a writer who brings peace and joy to people's souls and have a family of my own. But for now, I find fulfillment in caring for other people's children and making sweet memories that I'll cherish forever.

My Favourite Memory

One of my fondest memories goes back to when my sister and I, aged 9 and 14, found ourselves in the scorching heat of an Italian summer, the kind that burns your skin and makes you dream. On that day, with the sun cracking the stones, we embarked on a spontaneous bicycle adventure to a remote place in the heart of the countryside, where an old mill was hidden among the trees. A very thin river was full of dragonflies and tiny fish, and we spent minutes pointing out our favourites. At that time, we used to be obsessed with a programme called “H2O”, where three friends become mermaids, so when I came across a smooth stone that, in my young mind, could have turned us into mermaids, I had to pick it up and show its charm to my sister. As she cradled it in her hands, she whispered, “It’s magical”. Without hesitation, I slipped the stone into my pocket, and took it home with me. That same stone is now nestled in my wallet, and I've been carrying it with me for 9 years.

My Experience

I have 2 weeks of experience working in a kindergarten as an intern through a program called "Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro." In 2021, I spent 3 months in Ireland as an au pair for two children, ages 5 and 7. During one summer, I babysat my neighbors' children, who were 2 and 4 years old at the time. I helped them wake up, prepared their lunches and dinners, and played with them. From 2015 to 2019, I served as a children's entertainer for my town's summer camp. For a year, I assisted the nun who taught catechism to fifth graders. Additionally, I have co-organised and entertained at children's parties, and I tutored a middle school student in English. More recently, I have been babysitting for three different families in my neighbourhood, and the parents have all been very happy with how I have taken care of their children.

My Education

I graduated from high school with a high score (96/100) and I am proud of my educational journey and how the things I learned helped me become the person I am know.I was studying Chinese at the University of Venice, however, as I was unsatisfied with the program and the teaching method, I decided to drop out, and for the moment I study Korean on my own. Then, while I was in Ireland during my Aupair stay, I found the perfect course for me, English with Creative Writing. As I near the end of my second year at UCD, I'm hopeful about getting an internship for next year.

My Family

I have great parents. My dad is my anchor, and I thank God for making me his daughter. While I love my mother, we often clash because of the walls erected between us. Nevertheless, I thank her every day for raising me with manners and affection. My sister and I have drifted apart over the years, and I am saddened every day by the fact that I don’t have a stronger relationship with her. However, I am ready to make the effort to build a relationship whenever she is ready.

My Motivation

I love spending time with children because I think we can all learn something from them no matter how young they are.For this reason, I hope to be able to bond with them and also with their family. Of all the jobs I have done in the past, babysitting brought me the most fulfilment and joy, which is why I feel drawn to it.

My Interests

I love reading as it gives the possibility to travel for free to different places and experience different lives.I love working out as I want to be healthy and strong. I normally do workouts I find on Youtube, as I prefer to not go to the gym. I tried a lot of sports before, but my absolute favourite is swimming -I did competitive swimming for 5 years.I love taking long walks by myself in the country, as a way to relieve stress.I love writing poems, stories or just my thoughts when I cannot give voice to my worries and tears.I also enjoy going on adventures around Dublin and watching movies and TV series with my boyfriend.
