Job Description
Looking for a creative and active minder to look after two fairly grown up kids during afterschool hours and for some babysitting from time to time. I would like the kids to maybe head out after school to e.g. library or for a walk etc to get some activity, fresh air and then for the minder to help with homework. The kids finish school at 2.40pm and get dropped off by the school bus at 3.15. Frank is autistic and some experience with kids with additional needs would be good but not essential. Frank is fully verbal, very enthusiastic and happy kid but can have difficulty with emotional regulation at times. But a little patience and knowing his triggers goes a long way, i.e. he hates peanuts with a vengeance!
Our Family Routine
School bus leaves at 8.20am, drops them home for 3.15pm. Dinner at 6pm and into bed to read between 8.30-9pm. Aisling is usually asleep before 9.30 and Frank is asleep between 9.30 and 10pm. But he would read all night long if we don't remind him to turn off the light.
Our Home Environment
We live in a four bed detached house in the countryside between Naul and Balbriggan, on just over a half acre of gardens, trees etc. Frank has his own large timber garden shed that he hangs out in and fills with all his precious stones! We built our house 11 years ago.
Our Expectations
Someone easy going, relaxed and happy to head off with the kids to the library, beach, park etc. Flexible and happy to spend time on arts and crafts or walks etc but also on homework etc.
Qualifications and Experience
Most important is that we all get on well together and that a minder has a caring and fun loving attitude and treats the kids with patience and respect.
Our Budget
Open to discussion. For information we are paying afterschool €105 for the two kids for two afternoons per week, after the government scheme. I have paid a short term minder last summer €15 p/h.
