Dear Family
Hello! I’m Laura, I’m 21 years old and from Newtown. I’m an outgoing, creative girl. I’m from a family of six kids so have much experience minding and playing with my younger siblings. I play badminton, swim and run. I like to crochet and read in my spare time. I’m currently working in a bakery in Tesco full time. I’m good with kids and I was an au pair for one summer, minding two girls aged 8 and 11. I also worked at Greystones summer camp for kids as a team leader.
My Favourite Memory
I must admit that my summer in Spain was possibly one of the best summers of my life. They really became my second family and by the time I was leaving, the two girls were my new younger sisters. I also have my finest memories with my grandfather, singing songs in the car, watching documentaries, making jokes and laughing, or even doing nothing together. I also made some of my favourite memories as a child when going down to our mobile home every summer, as, since we lived in such a restricted area at home, I loved having the freedom to explore.
My Experience
As mentioned before, I worked as an au pair for a summer taking care of and playing with two young girls. I worked as a team leader for a Greystones summer camp for kids. I have also helped my mother with several of my younger siblings in any and every way I could.
My Education
After secondary school, I did a Level 5 Nursing Studies course. This is where I got my first aid training. My chosen course had an extra module of caring for children. This is also where I began my work in nursing homes, caring for the elderly.
My Family
As you know, I have a big family, which is something that I love. I get on with all of my siblings, especially the younger ones, who know that they can always call me when they need me. I would say I’m very protective of them and try to be there when they need me.
My Motivation
Ever since my summer of au pairing, and even before that, I always knew I liked and worked well with children. I have always hoped I would get an opportunity to work with them again.
My Interests
I love spending time with my family and friends. I’m very ambitious when it comes to travelling. On a day-to-day basis my hobbies include running, swimming, the gym, playing badminton, nature walks/ hiking, crocheting and reading.
