Job Description
Looking for a caring and engaging minder to mind our two children after school (2.30 to 5.30). Collection from school (10/15 minutes walk away). They will need a small snack after school so would need you to prepare that and some help for the oldest with homework (which isnt too heavy at 2nd class level). Minor tidy up after the kids activities and encouraging them to help put away. Conor has an afterschoool activity on a Thursday so he will need to be collected at 3.30. Caoimhe will cycle back with you to the school or walk. Driving might be helpful for that if weather is bad but driving is absolutely not a necessity.
Our Family Routine
School drop off is at 8.50 and we always cycle to school. We have an electric cargo bike and drop the big two to school and conor often cycles himself. One of us will drop the big two to school generally and the other will drop to creche. Caoimhe finishes school at 1.30 and goes to aftercare in the school on the same campus for an hour. Conor finishes at 2.30 so they are generally collected together. One of us generally works from home but on a Thursday, we often both are in the office. On Monday the kids have no activities. With our previous minder, they would have gone on the luas to dundrum library sometimes. On tuesday, they both go swimming and their grandparents collect them. Conor plays Tennis on a Wednesday and again her grandparents bring him. Caoimhe goes to Irish Dancing on a Wednesday and is currently collected by aftercare. Conor does Multi-Sports on a Thursday after school and needs to be collected at 3.30. On Friday, they both have a space in aftercare. Whichever one of us is in the office normally picks up Oisin on the way home and is home for 6. After work, we generally have dinner together at the table and check homework/ do Conor's reading. Every night we do books together before bed.
Our Home Environment
We have a 4 bedroom house. We have an average size backgarden with a trampoline the kids enjoy when its fine. Conor likes to kick a ball in the garden. We have a large kitchen diner which stores the main toys also. We have a separate sitting room, which is mainly only used for TV. The kids dont watch tv in the afternoon/ evening in the week. They get a bit of tv before school. The arts and crafts, stickers, activity books etc are in the kitchen/ utility. All Caoimhe's babies and fancy dress are in their bedroom. Conor and Caoimhe share a room and have bunks. All the story books and tonies are in their room. The bikes/scooters are in the shed beside the house
Our Expectations
We are looking for a minder who engages well with both our kids. They have different interests but will happily do an activity/ boardgame together. We bake a good bit together and they enjoy being involved in preparing food. The area we live has lots of other kids around so we want someone who will bring them out and supervise "play" with their friends when the weather permits and some homework is done. We want someone caring and engaging who will be reliable and fun to supervise and mind our kids
Qualifications and Experience
We want someone who has 3+ experience minding boys and girls. Childcare qualifications are a bonus but not required. Someone who loves kids and play.
Our Budget
We are looking for someone to work 6 hours generally a week *possibly 6.5 hours. We are open to discuss pay but ideally 15-18 e per hour
Additional Information
If we found a great match, we would consider taking Caoimhe out of aftercare on a Wednesday so the role would be 3 days a week. the kids generally do camps in the summer but we often still need cover in the afternoon and activities are not the same in the summer so if the role worked well, we would consider continuining over the summer and next year, the intention is our youngest would go to ECCE hours in the same aftercare in the school so, we may move to a 5 day week then.
